How do you read the evidence in a question?

In AP Cybersecurity, grounding an answer in evidence matters as much as the answer itself. Below is a simple example in the style used in lessons.

Scenario

In a server's authentication logs, hundreds of failed login attempts against the same username appear within a few minutes, immediately followed by a single successful login. The question: which attack is this, what evidence shows it, and what is the appropriate control?

Evidence-based solution

A burst of failed logins followed by a success is an indicator of a brute force / password attack. The evidence is the failed–success attempt pattern in the log. Appropriate controls: account lockout, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and rate limiting on login attempts. This solution uses the Detect Attacks and Mitigate Risk skills together.
